This book is Unbelievably HOT in Audio..The Audiobook Raises my initial rating of the book from 4 to 5 stars.
I was completely submersed in this book from the very start and did not want this book to end, I would Love to have another book, or even just more of these characters at some point. The narrator Joel Leslie just does an absolutely stunning job with the Dom/Mal and the Sub/Kyle's different parts in this story, making it a more than believable story between the two characters.. And getting to hear this story compared to just reading it, gives us a completely and totally different feel for the book; that everyone really should experience for themselves.
We get a good deal of actual story in this book mixed in with the relationship these characters develop with each other. But bottom line is we get a HUGE amount of sex and playtime in this book since the characters are basically living the lifestyle 24-7. If you Are Not looking for a BDSM book with a lot of sex, then please be warned now and pick a different book. LOL
Dom/Mal is finally brought back into the scene by his friends several years after his previous subs death at the hands of a serial killer. And he literally jumps right back in once he sees Kyle. They are drawn together right from the beginning.
I love all of the minute detail we get in this book about all of the aspects found in BDSM. At the beginning the Author tells us that this isn't really an instructional book on BDSM play and its really not. But we get so much detailed information blended into the storyline from start to finish about different types of play and how to make it safe and about different kinks and limits and how to make it work between two people. The knowledge that all relationships involving Kink, or not, will always be different from one couple to the next. Just an absolutely well thought out and well researched subject that comes across on the paper in this book so well, and is sooo damn Hot to read and hear..
Kyle is an absolutely beautiful sub, who at the beginning of this book hasn't yet had the chance to see just how far and deep his submissive side and needs run, until he meets Mal. At that point he starts to figure out he can finally be himself, without reservations, even if its sometimes hard to let go even knowing someone will actually be there to catch him when he stumbles. He just needs to learn to trust that Mal wont leave him like everyone else in his life. I really hated Kyles parents, and for me that part of the story was pretty predictable in how it was all going to play out, but I did like how it was written in and how it played out for Kyle and Mal after the fact of them being the horrible "parents/people" they were.
I personally really enjoyed this book immensely, especially in audio. But for sure there will be people out there who won't, so definitely go into this one with open eyes and if its not your thing *shrug* just move on to the next one...

I thought the book was well written and I did enjoy it (for the most part) however, the sex scenes were just a little too much for me. I do like to read BDSM books but, being neither a sadist nor a masochist, I found the D/s scenes hard to get into. In most of the BDSM books I have read the Dom was not a sadist so they did not get excited by causing pain (which I personally don’t get) like Mal did and Kyle’s enjoyment of the pain was also beyond my understanding. That being said, the book was well written and I did like both of the MC’s it was just the sex (and there was a lot of it) was not my cup of tea. That is why I did not give the book 5 stars instead of 4 because, for me, this is not a book to be re-read and that is my criteria for 5 star reviews, 5 star books are ones I will read more than once.
Malcom and Kyle meet completely by accident, but of course it's a case of (nearly) insty love. Their romance feels very intense, but it does feel authentic, too. I imagine with the stuff they are doing, the connection would be intense.
The development of their relationship is actually very sweet, and also....well, super hot! The ONLY part I didn't like was near the end when the 'drama' comes into play. It didn't seem like Kyle really would have willingly broken all those rules of Mal's, and it didn't seem like a dominant Mal would have just let Kyle 'drift' for a week. Seems like he would have stood at Kyle's door until Kyle showed up. But.....even though I didn't like that part much, the ending was rather like fireworks for me and so that made up for things!
This was a totally enjoyable read from start to finish. I loved both MC's, their journey together and separately, their personal dynamic and especially the verbal reinforcement/pet names the Dom, Mal, had for his beautiful boy, Kyle. Kyle especially is a fully realized character in that we see his growth, personal fulfillment and his development as a perfect sub. My only quibble is - and it's a teeny one - I did not like the fact that the sub had to kneel at his master's feet at the dinner table and be hand fed by the Dom, like a family pet. Ick. Yes, it was an act of submission and the writer's preference but not my cuppa. Other than that aspect I thought everything else was pretty interesting, sweet at times and incredibly hot. LOL This is my first book from this author and I know it will not be my last m/m offering from her. I highly recommend this book; it's very well written, the characters are fleshed out and the action is steamy. I would love to read more about this couple and their continuing story.
This story was well written and hot! While I don’t mind edging, pain, and occasional orgasm denial, this story was ALL about those things. This story contains edging, orgasm denial, CBT, and punishment spankings.
I’m not sure if I am more frustrated or relieved that both MCs were constantly questioning their own worth and actions. On the one hand, it made them more human but, on the other hand I constantly wanted to smack them each upside their head!
The blurb/synopsis is also a little misleading, most of the story is about Mal and Kyle starting their relationship. Kyle is not outed until the last few chapters.
If edging and/or orgasm denial are your thing, this should be right up your alley!
